Custom Shower Pans
A tile shower pan installation is a complex process that requires skill and experience, which is why it is best left to the professionals. Although tiles are a popular choice for shower floors, they are not inherently waterproof. In fact, water can easily seep through the grout, which is a porous masonry material. To prevent leaks, a waterproof liner is installed beneath the surface of the floor. This liner catches the water and directs it towards a specially designed shower drain with two layers of drain holes. The bottom layer of the drain is located below the floor, and it is where the waterproof liner sends the water.
To ensure that all the water is captured and routed towards the drain, the shower pan is built in three layers with sloped layers and a liner. If the waterproof membrane is not installed correctly or if it fails, the shower will leak. Given the complexity of the installation process, it is highly recommended to hire a professional for the installation of a tile shower pan.
While there are other options for shower bases, such as using different materials, a traditional tiled shower pan offers excellent performance at an affordable price.

The total cost of a bathroom remodel depends on the size of the project, what materials you choose and most importantly what your budget is. Believe it or not, the budget could vary greatly; you can remodel an entire bathroom for less than $3,000 or you can spend more than $25,000 to get your dream master bathroom design. In our experience, an average sized hallway bathroom remodel costs around $10,000. Most of our clients remodeling the master bathroom spend between 15-20,000.
Just like kitchen remodeling, bathroom remodeling is also an investment that improves your home and increases its resale value. This means you shouldn’t over build or go against the architectural style of the house. Some of the remodeling options are bathtubs, cabinets, lighting, countertops, showers, shower conversions, shower pans, toilet, sink and tile / flooring installation.
It takes 1 week to complete a hallway bath remodel, while master bathrooms usually take 2-3 weeks. If a custom glass shower enclosure needs fabricated this can add 2-3 weeks.
Empty out the bathroom, make a clear path out of your home. If the bathroom is small, make sure and clear out some additional space to make room for tool and material staging. This is crucial to being efficient on your project.
